Sometime in 1895, Estelle Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef got married in Paris. Estelle’s father was a dealer in precious stones, while Alfred’s father was a lapidary. The couple had similar values: enthusiasm, innovation, family, and a passion for precious stones.
Established in 1906 at 22 Place Vendôme, the Maison of Van Cleef & Arpels brought together two renowned names in the world of jewelry, setting the stage for a shared destiny of exquisite craftsmanship and design. Renée Puissant, their daughter, assumed the role of Artistic Director in 1926, imbuing the Maison with her bold creativity and visionary spirit, resulting in a unique and unmistakable style for Van Cleef & Arpels.
